  1. 2/3 cup rice
  2. 5 tbsp toor dal
  3. 2 tbsp yellow split moong dal
  4. 1 medium onion finely sliced
  5. 2 green chillies
  6. 1 " ginger piece
  7. 2 garlic cloves
  8. 3 tbsp oil
  9. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  10. 1 pinch asafoetida hing
  11. 1-2 pieces dry red chillies
  12. 2 pieces cloves
  13. 1-2 cinnamon stick
  14. 3-4 black peppercorns
  15. 2 pieces star anise
  16. 1-2 bay leaves
  17. 1/2 tsp tumeric powder
  18. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  19. 1 tsp dhania jeera powder
  20. 1/2 tsp garam masala
  21. 1 tbsp peanuts
  22. 1 tbsp dry coconut slices
  23. Salt to taste as required
  24. Finely chopped green corainder leaves to garnish as required
  25. Kadhi as required

Steps to make Khandeshi Masala Khichdi

  1. Wash rice and both dals 3-4 times in water. Soak for 1 hour.
  2. Collect all mentioned ingredients at one place. Finely chopped onion, green chillies, ginger, garlic. Keep aside.
  3. In cooking pan cooker add heat oil. Add cumin seeds as splutter add asafoetida, cloves,cinnamon stick, peppercorns, bay leaf,star anise dry red chillies and saute for 30 seconds. Add chopped green chillies ginger and garlic, peanuts. Saute for 2 minutes.
  4. Add sliced onions, dry coconut slices saute till pinkish. Add tumeric powder red chilli powder dhania jeera powder, garam masala and saute for 1 minute till oil separate.
  5. Add soaked rice and dals. Add salt and add 2 cups water. Mix well. Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles. Let the steam escape before opening the cooker lid. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  6. Serve/ Relish Delicious Hot Khandeshi Masala Khichdi with kadhi for complete dinner meal.
