- 2 tsp Ghee
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 5-8 cloves Garlic - finely chopped
- 2 tsp garlic paste
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 cup Water
- 1/2 Lemon
- or
- 1/4 tsp dry mango powder
- 1-1/2 tsp Salt (approx.)
- 2 tbsp Finely chopped coriander leaves
- for seasoning:
- 2 tsp Ghee
- 3 cloves Garlic - sliced
- 1 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
Steps to make Lasooni dal | Lehsuni dal | Dal lasooni | Garlic dal tadka
- Pressure cook dal with 1/4 tsp each of salt & turmeric powder.

- Mash dal well. Keep aside.

- In a wok, heat ghee. Add cumin seeds & allow to splutter. Add finely chopped garlic (I used garlic paste since I was in a rush and had it handy). Saute until it turns light brown.

- Add turmeric powder. Saute for few seconds on low heat.

- Add the mashed dal.

- Add water and mix well.

- Add finely chopped coriander leaves.

- Add lemon juice and salt. Mix well.

- For seasoning, heat ghee. Add sliced garlic and whole red chillies. Turn off heat and add kashmiri red chilli powder. Mix well and pour it over the garlic dal. Serve hot with rotis, phulkas, steamed rice or jeera rice.
