- 250 grams Green Moong dal
- 2 Chopped onions
- 2 tablespoons Tomato puree
- 1 small tomato chopped
- 1 teaspoon Jeera
- 1 teaspoon Chopped garlic
- 1 teaspoon Garlic paste
- 1/2 teaspoon Ginger paste
- 2 Chopped green chillies
- 1 teaspoon Jeera powder
- 1 teaspoon Dhania powder
- 1 teaspoon Garam masala powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Haldi powder
- 3 tablespoons Oil
- to taste Salt
- Chopped coriander leaves to garnish
Steps to make Moong Dal
- Boil and keep dal aside
- Heat oil in a kadahi and toss in jeera it it crackles. Add the chopped garlic and fry till it turns brown
- Put in onions and fry. Add Haldi and salt to taste. Put tomato puree and chopped tomatoes and stir.

- Put in the ginger and garlic paste and mix well.

- Add chopped chillies
- Cover and cook on low flame
- Now put in the powdered masalas except garam masala
- Pour in the dal and blend well. Add a cup of water and half teaspoon garam masala. Cook well.Cover and simmer
- Open lid and sprinkle rest of the garam masala
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with roti or paratha.
