- Firstly, in a pan heat 2 tbsp oil and add onion, chopped garlic, ginger.Saute on medium flame till it changes colour & onions become transparent. Now add coconut & saute for a while.Switch off the flame & completely cool it & transfer to a blender jar. Blend to smooth paste by adding 1/4 cup water. Keep aside




- Now, in a kadhai heat 2 tbsp oil & splutter 1 tsp mustard seed, cumin,hing & curry leaves. Add 1 onion & saute till it changes it colour.Keeping the flame low add turmeric powder, chilli powder, goda masala & salt. Saute on low medium flame till it turns aromatic.

- Now add tomato & saute till it turn soft & mushy.

- Now add onion coconut mixture & cook till the oil separates. Once done add moong & Mix well. Further add water according to the consistency required along with tamarind pulp jaggery. Cover & simmer for 10 mins or until moong is cooked completely.






- Finally add chopped coriander & mix. Mungachi Usal is Ready to Serve..Serve it with Your preferred choice of bread / rice.
