- For Vada:
- 3 potatoes (medium boiled and mashed)
- 1 tsp oil
- pinch asafoetida
- 1 tsp garlic, chopped
- 1 tsp ginger, chopped
- 2 tbsp coriander leaves, chopped
- 2 green chilies, chopped
- to taste salt
- For batter:
- 1/2 cup besan (Gram flour)
- 2 tbsp rice flour
- to taste salt
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/8 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- As needed coriander-mint chutney to serve
- As needed Pav Buns
- As needed oil to deep fry
- As needed sweet tamarind chutney to serve
Instructions to make Vada pav
- To make vadas, first we have to heat oil in a pan.Then add the asafoetida, garlic, ginger, green chilies and salt. Saute till light brown.
- Then add mashed potatoes into the pan and mix well, after few minutes take off from the stove
- Form into equal sized balls. Refrigerate for an hour.
- Make a thick batter with besan,rice flour, salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and baking soda.
- Dip the balls in the batter and deep fry them till golden in colour at the last stage fry some green chilli and keep aside
- Now let’s assemble everything on the pav, apply the green chutney and sweet tamarind chutney on the both sides of the pav
- And now place the Vada and add fried green chilli inside the pav and serve it with more green and tamarind chutney as per need
- A yummy 5pm snack with kadhai chai for all hungry tummies.
