- 1 cup chana dal
- 1/2 cup split yellow moong dal
- 1 medium onion finely chopped
- 1 medium tomato finely chopped
- 2 tbsp ghee
- 2 cloves
- 1 " piece cinnamon stick
- 2 pieces dry red kashmiri chillies
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 tbsp green chilli ginger paste
- 1/4 tsp tumeric powder
- 1 /2 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp dhania jeera powder
- 1/2 tsp kasuri methi
- 1/4 tsp garam masala
- Salt to taste as required
- For tadka:
- 1 tsp ghee
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 pinch asafoetida/ hing
- 1 tsp red kashmiri chilli powder
- Finely chopped green corainder leaves to garnish
Steps to make Chana Dal Fry
- Wash and soak both dals for 1 hour. Pressure cook for 3 whistles.
- In cooking pan add heat ghee. Do tempering of cloves,cinnamon stick, dry red chillies, bay leaf. Add chopped onion and saute till pinkish.
- Add green chilli ginger paste, tomato pieces and saute till tomato pieces are cooked. Add tumeric powder, red kashmiri chilli powder, dhania jeera powder, kasuri methi and garam masala. Saute for 2 minutes.
- Add boiled dals, salt and cook for 2 -3 boils. Transfer it in serving bowl.
- In small tadka pan add heat ghee. Do tempering of cumin seeds,hing,red chilli powder. Pour this tadka on prepared dal curry. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
- Serve Relish Delicious Hot Chana Dal Fry with Wheat Bhakhari/ Parathas/ Rice, onion, mango pickle for complete dinner meal.
