  1. Millet flour 1/2 cup. (Sorghum or pearl millet)
  2. 1 cup Whole wheat flour
  3. 1 cup Chickpea flour
  4. 2 Chopped onions
  5. 1 tablespoon Ginger garlic paste
  6. 2 Green chillies chopped
  7. 1/2 cup Curd
  8. 1 tsp Caraway seeds
  9. 1 tsp Sesame seeds
  10. 1 tsp Crushed cumin
  11. Chopped green coriander leaves 1 tablespoon
  12. Chilli powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder 1 tsp each
  13. Salt to taste
  14. Warm water to knead a soft dough
  15. Oil 1 tsp per flatbread or per thalipeeth

Instructions to make Thalipeeth (थालीपीठ)

  1. First, keep an iron or nonstick skillet to heat on low flame. Prepare the dough till it heats up.
  2. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl or flat plate. Using warm water, knead to a soft and pliable dough.
  3. Press a tennis ball sized portion on the hot skillet carefully with fingers into a thick disc. Make a small hole in the centre with wet finger and 4 more around it.
  4. Pour oil into these holes. Cover and cook on low to medium flame, on both sides.
  5. Make sure the thalipeeth are cooked well on both sides and golden brown. Serve very hot with butter, mango pickle, curd or your choice of dip. Enjoy!
