Aloo tuk is an authentic Sindhi dish, in which potatoes are fried twice. It’s mostly eaten as a side dish or as snacks.
Here in this dish I have not fried them but have baked baby potatoes as aloo tuk and have used them as chaat.
Ingredients and spices that need to be Prepare to make Aloo tuk ki chaat:
- 8-10 baby potatoes
- 7-8 pieces papadi
- 1/2 cup boiled chickpeas
- 2-3 tsp chaat masala
- 1/3 cup pomegranate kernels
- 2-3 tbsp nylon sev/ bhujia
- Green chutney and tamarind chutney as per liking
- 1 cup thick lump free curd
- 1 tbsp oil
- Salt and blk pepper to taste for baby potatoes
Steps to make Aloo tuk ki chaat
- Wash baby potatoes very nicely.
Take water in a pan and put washed potatoes in it. Let them boil for 15-20 minutes so that they become slightly soft. - Alternatively you can boil them in a pressure cooker too for one whistle as we don’t want to have mushy potatoes.
- Now take them out from the pan and let them cool.
Once they cool down, press them slightly in between the palms. - Preheat the oven for 5-10 minutes
Take a bowl and add little oil, salt and black pepper. Now add baby potatoes in it and mix with a spoon.
Put all baby potatoes on the baking tray and keep it in the oven for 15-20 minutes. - Flip the potatoes and let them bake from the other side too.
Bake till they are crispy. - Now prepare other things required for the chaat
Take a bowl add broken pieces of papadi.
Add baby potatoes, boiled chana, Boondi, add chaat masala powder, mix well. - Add thick curd, Green and tamarind chutney.
Mix well. - Now put the mix in serving glasses and garnish them with some more curd, both chutneys and pomegranate kernels. Sprinkle some sev/bhujia on the top
